What is Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopathic medicine is the future of healthcare by addressing the root causes of disease and harnessing the body’s inherent ability to self-regulate and heal. It empowers patients through education, promoting lifestyle choices that prioritize prevention and long-term health.
To become a licensed Naturopathic Physician, one must graduate from an accredited 4-year medical school after earning a bachelor’s degree and pass rigorous basic science and clinical board exams. State-specific exams in acupuncture and minor surgery may also be required.
While conventional medical schools focus on symptom management, Naturopathic Physicians are trained in the whole-body approach, emphasizing the identification and treatment of underlying causes. The extensive clinical training spans higher then that of conventional MDs/DOs to encompass nutritional medicine, environmental medicine, acupuncture, botanical medicine, homeopathy, hydrotherapy, physical medicine, holistic counseling, minor surgery, and intravenous therapy.
Modern health challenges stem from synthetic chemicals and industrialization, which have disrupted homeostasis (natural balance) of the body and environment. Over the past 200 years, disease rates have surged due to increased dependency on industrialization, instant gratification, and synthetic substances labeled as medicine or food.
Naturopathic medicine calls for a return to natural principles, advocating personal responsibility for health and recognizing the need for a broader perspective on disease origins. It is poised to lead the evolution of healthcare by promoting a deeper understanding of health and wellness.
Synergy’s Core Beliefs
-
The causes of disease or degenerative processes often trace back to poor diet and lifestyle choices, overuse of suppressive medicines, misuse of conventional "preventative" therapies, constant exposure to harmful environmental chemicals, unresolved trauma, and more. We succeed by listening to our patients, investigating potential causes, removing obstacles to healing, and supporting the body's ability to heal and regenerate.
